Erin and Mike’s Wedding

Erin and Mike had a full day of wedding activity recently at Gedney Farm in Marlborough. Erin began her day relaxing and getting made up down the road at close by Mepal Manor, while Mike and his buddies played and relaxed back at the venue. Some morning rain brought the ceremony inside, but the weather cleared up and became beautiful in time for outdoor formals and portraits.

Laura and Tom’s Wedding

Tom and I knew each other from the local wedding scene as he’s a DJ who owns Hard at Play. He introduced me to his then fiancée Laura once they got engaged, and shortly thereafter asked me to photograph their wedding. They had an amazing day filled with color and laughter.

I started early at the Residence Inn in West Springfield where Laura and her bridesmaids were getting ready, and 2nd photographer Sandra Costello of Studio SMC went to Tom’s house in Springfield to follow him and the guys until we all met up at Holy Cross Church in Springfield for the ceremony.

One party bus ride later we found ourselves at the Log Cabin in Holyoke for a spectacular reception where the dancing went on all night long. The day’s flowers were from Durocher’s in West Springfield; the huge, beautiful cake was provided by Cerrato’s in West Springfield; the colorful room lighting was by CJC Event Lighting; DJ services were supplied by Rob Alberti’s DJ Service; and cinematography was by Steven Fowler Films.

Tamar and Kris’ Wedding

I started photographing Tamar and Kris’ wedding day at the Black Walnut Inn in Amherst, and from there we drove to Amherst Center to take in a local arts fair. After grabbing a bite to eat we walked around town for a pre-ceremony portrait session and then headed back to the Inn to prepare for the rest of the day.

The ceremony and reception were both held at The Red Barn on the Hampshire College campus, and once the Tamar and Kris exchanged the vows they wrote themselves, the party really got going. Here are some photos from their day…

Leonard Nimoy’s “Secret Selves” Exhibition

On July 31, 2010 I was the official photographer invited to document the opening of Leonard Nimoy’s “Secret Selves” photography exhibition at The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA. Many of these photos, and others from the day, were sent across the country and around the world as part of Nimoy’s promotion for his “Secret Selves” book.

Large and small prints from the “Secret Selves” project lined the walls at Mass MoCA, and as the evening went on one of my duties was to photograph Nimoy in front of selected prints with the models he originally photographed.

Throughout the event I additionally photographed Nimoy with buyers of his work, with Mass MoCA patrons and leaders, and with his family. I did my best to also document the event unobtrusively, photographing people enjoying the art and Nimoy interacting with the crowd. Here are some photos from the event…

Leonard Nimoy is Back in Town.

In November of 2007 I was working behind the scenes at the R. Michelson Gallery in Northampton, MA while Leonard Nimoy photographed models for his project that would become “Secret Selves”. That project is now complete and Nimoy’s work will be on display at the R. Michelson Gallery beginning this Thursday, July 29th, when Nimoy himself will be in attendance autographing copies of his new book. The event is open to the public.

On Saturday July 31st, life size prints from “Secret Selves” will be on display at Mass MoCA in North Adams, MA where Nimoy will be on hand during an invitation only event. Both exhibits are ongoing and specific dates can be obtained through their respective web sites.
